Een mail die je had moeten beantwoorden, een telefoontje dat je nog moest doen, een afspraak die je verkeerd noteerde. Niets dramatisch. Iets kleins. En meteen schiet er een stem in je hoofd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Typisch. Hoe kan je dat nu weer vergeten. Je beloofde het nog. Iedereen kan op je rekenen behalve jezelf.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of, voor andere mensen, een andere variant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Wat een sukkel. Dom. Echt waar, dom.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of weer een andere:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Zie je wel. Je kan het niet.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Je hebt jouw versie. Je herkent ze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hier is wat ik denk dat de meeste mensen niet weten:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die stem is niet van jou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hij voelt aan als jouw stem, want hij speelt af in jouw hoofd. Maar hij is ge\u00efnstalleerd. En als je goed luistert, kan je horen door wie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let een keer op hoe die stem praat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De woorden die hij kiest. De toon. De timing. Wanneer hij aanslaat en wanneer hij stil is. Hoeveel ruimte hij neemt. Hoe hij eindigt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En dan, het belangrijkste: vergelijk dat met de mensen die je opvoedden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bijna iedereen die ik in mijn praktijk zie, ontdekt iets specifieks. Het is jouw moeders stem. Of die van je vader. Soms een leerkracht. Soms een oudere broer of zus die de toon zette in huis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maar het is meestal iemand specifiek. Een bestaande mens met een eigen manier, die jij zoveel hebt gehoord in de jaren dat je hersenen werden gevormd, dat die stem nu in jou doorklinkt zonder dat je het merkt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Krijg dit soort denkwerk elke week in je inbox, een week v\u00f3\u00f3r het online komt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons has-background is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-fe48e5de wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\" style=\"background-color:#ffefef\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-element-button\" style=\"color:#fff5f5;background-color:#4f5e4a\">Schrijf je in voor de nieuwsbrief<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Een voorbeeld. Iemand zei me ooit: &#8220;Mijn moeder zei nooit dat ik dom was. Ik zou nooit iets uit haar mond zo hebben omschreven.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Klopt. Want het ging niet om wat ze zei. Het ging om <em>hoe ze het zei<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Haar moeder bekeek haar elke avond na het tandenpoetsen. Geen woord. Een blik die zei: dat moet beter. Niet boos. Niet hard. Gewoon: niet goed genoeg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En de stem in haar hoofd, dertig jaar later, doet hetzelfde. Niet &#8220;je bent dom.&#8221; Maar een toon van: dat had beter gekund. Een lichte teleurstelling. Geen woede. Een stille onvoldoende.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zelfde manier als haar moeder. Andere woorden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dit is geen verwijt aan je ouders. Het is geen oefening in iemand schuldig spreken voor wat ze deden of niet deden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het is diagnostisch werk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Want zolang die stem voelt alsof het <em>jij<\/em> bent, geloof je hem. Wat hij zegt landt als waarheid. Als jij denkt dat je niets waard bent, dan kan dat moeilijk anders dan waar zijn, want je weet het toch zelf het beste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maar als je kan horen dat het haar stem is, of zijn stem, dan verandert er iets. De stem is dan een geluid in je hoofd, geen oordeel uit binnenin. Iets dat iemand anders ooit met je deed, niet iets uit jou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ze hebben je beschadigd, op je ingehakt. Zij zijn niet meer hier, dus heb je de bijl opgepakt en hak je door op jezelf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dat hoeft niet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De praktische zet is klein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De volgende keer dat de stem aanslaat, vraag dan: wiens stem hoor ik hier?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Niet onmiddellijk antwoorden. Gewoon de vraag in de lucht hangen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Soms is het antwoord meteen duidelijk. Soms duurt het maanden voor je merkt: ja, dit is haar manier van iets zeggen zonder iets te zeggen. Dit is zijn manier van laten weten dat ik ergens tekortschoot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Op het moment dat je dat hoort, verandert de stem van eigenaar. Niet weg.
